University of Iceland Faculty of Law - grant

LOGOS sponsored a new position of a lecturer, Eirikur Jonsson, at the University of Iceland Faculty of Law, for three years. Kristín Ingólfsdóttir, rector, Dr. Páll Hreinsson, president of the Faculty of Law, and Gunnar Sturluson, Managing Partner of LOGOS, signed an agreement to this effect on 16 February 2007. LOGOS´ cost for sponsoring the position amounts to 15 million ISK, but the objective was to reinforce teaching and research at the University of Iceland Faculty of Law in the area of administration law, with emphasis on regulations regarding government supervision of the financial market. Eirikur Jonsson graduated from the University of Iceland Faculty of Law in 2002 and worked as an attorney for Landslog Law Firm. He finished his LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 2006. Eiríkur was a secretary for the Tribunal of Public Procurement 2002-2005 and chairman of the Student Counsel of the University of Iceland 2000-2001.

In 2007 LOGOS celebrated it´s 100 years anniversary and the agreement with the University was a part of that celebration. Gunnar Sturluson says that by sponsoring this new position of a lecturer, LOGOS wanted to encourage the University of Iceland Faculty of Law in the areas that LOGOS´ clients as well as the economy will benefit from. "We specialise in legal services for the businesses and the developement is enormously fast. That is why it is so important that the rules of law that concern the supervision of administration are studied properly".
